The art of Phillip Janta

Phillip Janta (Janta Island) X French Paper Art ClubPhillip Janta is a German artist and screen printer, born in 1980 in Erfurt. In 2001, he moved to Leipzig to study typography and illustration at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts (HGB). After graduating in 2007, he worked for two years as an assistant in the HGB screen printing workshop.

In 2005, Phillip Janta became a member of the art collective "Fifi" and participated in exhibitions in Erfurt, Leipzig, Berlin, and Hamburg, as well as in various publications.

He created "Janta-Island," an imaginary artistic universe that serves as the backdrop for his works. His creations, mainly screen prints, are made on scratchboard, a technique where the artist scratches black ink to reveal a white layer, producing detailed and high-contrast images.

Today, Phillip exhibits his work internationally and teaches screen printing.
