Daria Schmitt

After studying history and then architecture, Daria Schmitt worked for various performing arts companies, designing stage sets, creating storyboards, and producing visuals for events.

She taught for several years at a school of applied arts before taking part in the creation of an architecture and museography agency.


At the same time, she began working in comics and signed her first project with Casterman. With this publisher, she produced four albums. The most recent one, Ornithomaniacs, in black and white, received the Artémisia Award – Drawing Mention in 2018. In 2022, Bestiaire du crépuscule, an album with extraordinary artwork paying tribute to H. P. Lovecraft and fantastic literature, was published in the prestigious Aire Libre collection. Daria Schmitt now devotes herself fully to comics, illustration, and concept art. She lives and works in Paris.
