About the artist

Armel Gaulme is a French illustrator born in 1981 and a graduate of the Penninghen School in Paris.

He began his career alternating between graphic design and illustration for children’s publishing, establishing his style with works inspired by fairy tales and history. He creates illustrations that are both imaginative and encyclopedic, also working in film and video games.

Among his notable projects are adaptations of Rudyard Kipling’s texts and works by H.P. Lovecraft for the "The Lovecraft Archives" collection at Bragelonne. For the past decade, he has been teaching classical drawing at the École Georges Méliès. In 2019, he joined the Superani art collective and continues to explore various projects, including creature design for cinema and illustrations for upcoming books at Editions Caurette.
